How does it work ?
UrbanKite uses Google Local public API, Twitter's public API, and bit.ly's public API. We're the mash-up to end all mash-ups...
Where is UrbanKite available ?
UrbanKite's business data comes straight from Google via their public API so ultimately it should work anywhere Google Local or Google Maps works. For know we are focusing on English speaking countries so it should work in UK, US, OZ and more... If it doesn't, it's probably our fault
so please let us know. It is available on Android phones (HTC Dream / Magic / many more coming) and soon on iPhone so it is available anywhere you can get your hands on one of those.
What phones are supported ?
UrbanKite's beta launch is for Android phones (HTC Dream / Magic / Hero and a bunch more coming soon)... The iPhone / iPod Touch version will be available late summer.
Where do I get UrbanKite ?
Android users should go to the "Market" application and search for "UrbanKite" -- or follow
this link. If you have a barcode reader (downloadable from Android Market) you can scan the barcode to download the application.
When it comes out for iPhone it will be available from the iTunes store and linked from here.
What about Privacy ?
UrbanKite is committed to protecting your privacy whilst allowing you to broadcast as much of your life as you see fit! UrbanKite takes your current location and sends it to Google to figure out nearby businesses. Our server never even sees this location so we couldn't do anything with it even if we wanted to. The app asks for your Twitter details in order to be able to log into Twitter but never sends this information to our server either.
In short, we will never do anything to violate anyone's privacy and have built the clients such that we don't even get to see any private data.
I'm a merchant interested in listing my offers. How do I do that?
We currently don't offer a service for merchants to add their own offers but it's something we're thinking about... Send a message and we will contact you when we have something ready.
